Our Tarot Soul Coaching draw for Thursday, 6 of December, is the 7 of Wands and the associated Shem angels are Leuviah and Hahayiah. The 7 of Wands is, as Waite notes below, a card of valour. In the Thoth Tarot, this card has the title ‘Valour.’
Waite for It
A young man on a craggy eminence brandishing a staff; six other staves are raised towards him from below. Divinatory Meanings: It is a card of valour, for, on the surface, six are attacking one, who has, however, the vantage position. On the intellectual plane, it signifies discussion, wordy strife; in business–negotiations, war of trade, barter, competition. It is further a card of success, for the combatant is on the top and his enemies may be unable to reach him. Reversed: Perplexity, embarrassments, anxiety. It is also a caution against indecision. (The Pictorial Key to the Tarot)
The Golden Dawn astrological correspondence is Mars in Leo. Mars is our drive and ambition. Leo energy is focused on playfulness, children, romance, success and taking centre stage. Out of all 12 Zodiac signs, Leo has the most pride.
In terms of the Shem Angels, the 7 of Wands is associated with angels no. 11 and 12, Lauviah (daytime ruler) and Hahayiah (nighttime ruler) Lauviah rules the first five days (quinance) of the third decan of Leo and Hahayiah rules the second quinance of the same decan. They rule the hours of 3.20-3.40 AM and 3.40-4 AM respectively. The corresponding Psalms* are Psalms 11 and 12.
Psalm 12, verse 7:
The words of the Lord are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Lauviah has the title ‘To be exalted.’ He protects against lightning and helps us be victorious. Lauviah also protects us against the influx of unwanted emotions. He is a guardian of people of renown and influences people who seek to use their talents for the Highest Good.
Hahayiah has ‘God is refuge’ as one of his titles. Hahayiah protects against adversity and comes to our help in our hour of need. He brings the mysteries to those who faithfully seek them in their dreams. He is a guardian of discrete, wise and witty people.
In the Frideborg Tarot, the 7 of Wands features a bright red alarm box. We only get to sound the alarm and call on the Powers That Be to assist us in our fight if we are fighting with valour, for a good cause. In the face of overwhelming opposition it can be easy to forget that we can always call on the Divine to assist us and fortify us.
Stand your ground,
Express your truth
The lessons cost dearly
And now you see clearly,
So speak your mind —
It’s they who are blind
For today’s Tarot Soul Coaching focus, we are called to do the right thing, stand our ground, and trust that we are supported by the Divine in doing so, no matter how fierce the opposition is. You are safe and protected and will emerge victorious.

The archangelic Zodiac sign correspondences are Camael (Mars) and Michael (Sol/Leo).

* Psalms – I’m going by Aaron Leitch’s suggestion to use the first 72 Psalms for each of the 72 Shem angels respectively, and not by the Golden Dawn correspondences.
