You must learn to save first and spend afterwards.
~ John Poole
The message of these three cards is simple. Together, the King of Swords and The Emperor are asking is to take charge and analyse our finances (5 of Pentacles). The temptation is to get swept away on a wave of Christmas shopping and in general living larger than we can afford.
Be realistic today. You need to count your pennies before you spend them and rather use any money you think you have spare to settle outstanding payments and debts. I know that’s not a fun message during the festive season but there you have it. The cards like to keep it real like that.
The quint of these three cards adds up to 23/5 The Hierophant. Align your spending with your most deeply held values. Buy only things of lasting value. Consult a financial advisor if need be. This is a good time to seek advice and guidance from someone with better understanding of money matters.
In the end, we are ever only temporary stewards of what we have in our keep. To spend well is to invest in future generations, the environment and those in need.
If your riches are yours, why don’t you take them with you to t’other world?
~ Ben Franklin
